As a Catholic school, faith is at the heart of all that we do and all that we teach.

Our teachers are dedicated to supporting the student and working with parents to help our students become 21st century global citizens. In conjunction with parents, we work to instill a love of God and of learning that will help our students meet the challenges of education and of life beyond the walls of St. Hubert Catholic School.

At St. Hubert Catholic School, we offer a broad and exceptionally rich curriculum, beginning with our dynamic early childhood program through 8th grade. We meet and exceed all curricular requirements as determined by the Minnesota Department of Education.

Our students, kindergarten through eighth grade, receive instruction in reading, writing, grammar, math, social studies, handwriting, religion, and science.  Additionally, we have specially trained teachers who work with all students in the subject areas of music, physical education, library and research, digital learning, art, Spanish, band (grades 4-8), and choir (grades 5-8).

We update our curriculum materials on a rotating annual basis and would be happy to talk to you about specific curriculum materials when you visit us for a tour.

Elementary School Curriculum

Religion

We believe the foundation of religion is the conviction that God is always present in our daily lives. Our students become aware of the responsibility they have to themselves, each other, and the world around them through the teachings of Jesus Christ taught through doctrine, tradition, scripture and prayer. In the elementary grades, teachers focus on developing a relationship with God, the foundations of the Catholic faith, and early sacraments.

Mathematics

We believe our rigorous critical-thinking based math program will provide resources and instruction for individual needs, as well as allow students to apply math concepts to real world situations. Our math teachers find a balance of teaching both conceptual and procedural mathematics to deepen our students’ understanding of the world around them and bring math to life.

Language Arts

We believe the goal of a language arts program is to create effective communicators. Using the interrelated process of reading, writing, speaking, and listening, St. Hubert Catholic School students will learn to communicate with confidence, clarity, creativity, and competence. Our students will also understand and appreciate different genres, be able to follow written and spoken directions, find information using different means, and truly integrate their learning at home with Fountas and Pinnell, Sonday, Raz Kids, Type To Learn, and other programs.

Science

We believe science should enhance each student’s curiosity and develop their ability to investigate, analyze and explain the biological, physical, chemical, and technological world around them. Our teachers balance the use of hands-on experiences and direct instruction to excite students about the life cycle of a duck, weather, the solar system, light, sound, and a variety of other topics.

Social Studies

We believe the social studies program creates responsible citizens who are accepting of cultural diversity in our global society. Through understanding the past and present, St. Hubert Catholic School students will be able to meet the challenges of their future. Our teachers help students understand events both present and long ago, develop citizenship skills, and learn about our country.

Spanish

We believe that through the study of another language and culture, St. Hubert Catholic School students will gain a better understanding of the world and the many areas of diversity throughout. By teaching our students a second language, our teachers are helping St. Hubert Catholic School students become more globally competitive.

Physical Education and Health

We believe through the physical education program, St. Hubert Catholic School students will develop lifelong skills to lead healthy lifestyles. Our skilled teachers have developed a program consisting of activities and experiences that promote health, safety, physical, and social skills. These experiences help our students form positive self-images.

Technology

We believe our technology program supports our students understanding, use, and proficiency of technological skills. The experiences St. Hubert Catholic School students have with technology enables them to meet the future challenges they encounter. Our students develop strong word processing, multimedia, video, presentation, and creative skills through multiple technological tools to become competitive 21st century learners and citizens.

Art

We believe that art is a balance of creative experiences, skill development, and knowledge. Our teachers deliver unique experiences comprised of these components in an environment that is student-centered, discipline based, and structured. Our student’s artwork is the pride of the hallways at St. Hubert Catholic School and can be found displayed throughout the building.

Music

We believe our music program is a resource to develop the student’s creativity, self-confidence, and love of music. Our music teachers use a balance of study, practice, and performance for all of our students to create one of the strongest programs at St. Hubert Catholic School. Our elementary school students have the opportunity to learn basic instruments and perform at our Advent Prayer program. Starting in fourth grade, St. Hubert Catholic School students have another musical opportunity and can participate in band.

Middle School

At St. Hubert Catholic School, our middle school promotes the love of learning through rigorous, faith-filled, academic, artistic, and athletic programs. Our students understand the value of a multifaceted education and develop the desire to become lifelong learners. We nurture the individual gifts and talents of students, while meeting their individual needs in a Christ centered atmosphere. Our content-rich curriculum is taught by extremely qualified professional educators, dedicated to Catholic education.

Our middle school teachers work collaboratively with students and parents to provide experiences that encourage students to develop appropriate levels of independence. St. Hubert Catholic School students develop self-monitoring skills and self-motivation through a nurturing, safe and trusting environment.

Our middle school students develop organization skills, extended concentration, perseverance, creativity, abstract, and critical thinking skills. When students leave the walls of St. Hubert Catholic School, it is our desire for them to leave with a love of God, truth, knowledge, and learning.

Middle School Extracurriculars

In addition to our core curriculum, middle school students also have the opportunity to participate in band, choir, and athletics. Over half our St. Hubert Catholic School middle school students decide to participate in all three additional curricular opportunities.

Our teachers balance the use of hands-on experiences and direct instruction to excite their students about monarchs, the human body, architecture, and a variety of other topics.

Our teachers deliver unique experiences comprised of these components in an environment that is student-centered, discipline based, and structured. We are proud of student’s artwork. It can be found displayed throughout the school hallways.

Music

We believe our music program fosters our students’ creativity, self-confidence, and love of music. In grades kindergarten through four, students attend a general music class. Through singing, movement, instruments, and listening, students gain a musical foundation they can build on for years to come. General music continues for grades five through eight, with a focus on composition, theory, movement, and music appreciation. Students that desire additional musical and performance opportunities may join band in grades four through eight, choir in grades five through eight, and jazz band in grades six through eight.

Band

We believe the St. Hubert Catholic School band program augments the already high quality of St. Hubert Catholic School student life. Band students receive the educational advantages of one-on-one individualized music lessons and live performance opportunities. Group rehearsals and performances foster confidence and social skills in our students. The St. Hubert Catholic School band program is central to the spiritual and academic growth of our students.

Choir

We believe the choir program is a vital part of the St. Hubert Catholic School Community. Students in choir lead the singing at Mass each week. Through the rehearsal process, students build a solid choral foundation and learn to work together. Students receive multiple performance opportunities throughout the year, which builds confidence and self-esteem.

Honors

St. Hubert Catholic School middle school students will have the opportunity to earn an honor jacket. During the course of their fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grade years, students can earn points each trimester for participation in extra curricular activities, community service projects and school committees. In order to receive a jacket, students must accumulate the minimum number of points for their grade level.

When a student earns the required amount of points, the school will purchase an Honor Jacket for them. This jacket comes in a variety of colors and has the student’s last name on the sleeve. They may wear their jacket as part of their uniform. Students achieving twice the amount of their required points by the end of April of their eighth grade year will be invited to a special leadership event.
